An increasing number of organizations that support people facing multiple challenges are shifting their focus from supporting short-term changes to lasting wellbeing. These programs orient their work differently than programs taking a conventional approach to services do: they take the Full Frame Approach. The Full Frame Approach is a way of working with people facing multiple challenges that supports people in the full frame of their lives by applying a set of principles and practices that increase wellbeing and support deep and lasting change. Through the Full Frame Approach, programs attend to the Five Domains of Wellbeing — social connectedness, safety, stability, mastery and meaningful access to relevant resources — while minimizing the tradeoffs that come with change.
FFI has received a number of requests from the philanthropic community for help in identifying and supporting organizations that are oriented toward the Full Frame Approach. In response to these requests, FFI created this toolkit through a collaborative effort with our partners in philanthropy and with four exemplary community-based nonprofit organizations in Greater Boston — Julie’s Family Learning Program (South Boston), On The Rise (Cambridge), REACH Beyond Domestic Violence (Waltham) and The Salasin Center of Western Massachusetts Training Consortium (Greenfield).
