From Safety Planning to Wellbeing Planning
This webinar, “From Safety Planning to Wellbeing Planning,” is a follow-up resource to the 2019 toolkit with the same title. It is designed primarily for providers who work with people who have experienced domestic and sexual violence. The webinar explores the intersection of safety and wellbeing and how existing safety plans can be assessed and improved upon using a wellbeing orientation. The webinar provides actionable information, exercises and tools to shift from a singular focus on short-term safety to creating opportunities that support long-term wellbeing.
The Transformational Power of Starting With Wellbeing
What would it mean to fundamentally shift our focus from fixing problems to fostering wellbeing–the needs and experiences essential for health and hope? For organizations, systems and communities working to stop the wicked cycles of poverty, violence, trauma and oppression, starting with wellbeing creates possibilities for lasting change in people’s lives and opens the door to greater equity in society. In this webinar, Katya Fels Smyth, Founder and CEO explores the principles of a wellbeing orientation and provides an overview of the Five Domains of Wellbeing, an evidence-informed universal framework that can be used in diverse fields and systems and across populations.
Messy But Not Chaotic: Methodologies and Frameworks That Embrace the Complexities of People and Communities
Making change is hard; sustaining change is harder. In this webinar, Katya Smyth, Founder and CEO, and John Kania, Managing Director of FSG and Executive-in-Residence at New Profit, explore the importance of shifting from problem-centered to people-centered approaches in direct service and collective impact initiatives to achieve lasting change with a focus on the challenges of measuring and evaluating impact.

Wellbeing, the Missing Piece of the Safety & Permanency Puzzle: A Different Approach from Missouri Children’s Division
In 2014, Missouri Children’s Division began a system transformation to improve outcomes. A key strategy is considering not just safety but wellbeing from the first contact with a family. To support this effort, the agency has adopted the Five Domains of Wellbeing as the foundation of its philosophy and practice. On this webinar, the Director of Missouri Children’s Division and the CEO of the Full Frame Initiative will offer an overview of the Five Domains of Wellbeing framework, provide examples of how it is being applied in Missouri‘s child welfare system, share preliminary observations and findings, as well as plans for the future, and discuss implications of this shift for families, workers, and partner agencies. The webinar will also include a discussion of the key factors in making the Children’s Division/Full Frame Initiative partnership robust, productive, and sustainable.
How Do Survivors of Domestic Violence Define Success for Themselves?
Learn about the findings and recommendations of FFI’s recent project in California, examining how people who have experienced domestic violence, and others in the field, define success for survivors. The findings call into question some of the most basic assumptions about the domestic violence field.
